About Ariel Lodge

We are a group of friendly guys in an innovative and growing lodge who meet on a regular basis four evenings a year, and informally, every other Monday. The informal meetings are more flexible and as such are not essential, are to work with masonry and socialise with each other.

Ariel Lodge was originally founded by a group of pilot’s way back in 1936, and met regularly in central London. The name Ariel was created in mythology, meaning the spirit of the air. Our crest depicts the Pilots wing`s badge of the Aero club and an aircraft compass set to fly due east.

It has since evolved with a much wider spectrum of members from all walks of life. These ranges to those who love working with their hands to qualified and professional people. Currently the age of our members ranges, from 23 to 83 with one member being in Ariel Lodge for over 50 years. We also have a number of fathers whose own sons have since joined our Lodge. We are very fortunate to have the HRH Prince Michael of Kent GVCO as our Provincial Grand Master.

Individuals become Freemasons for a variety of reasons. Some are attracted by the valuable work that the movement performs in raising money for charity. Where the greatest part goes to non-Masonic charities – local, national and international. They also assist the community such as carrying out voluntary work.

Some become Freemasons because of the unique fellowship and friendship it provides, others to enjoy the theatrical aspects that it brings.

We have social “Ladies Weekends” as a way of saying thank you to our wives and partners for their support. We also have other social events such as barbeques. Both provide opportunities to have both quality time with your partner and also to meet other members and couples.

Please feel free to take a look our "Questions and Answers" to see if we have managed to answer any questions you may have.
